It covers a comprehensive review of heart related symptoms, medical history and cardiovascular risk factors, whether you have been referred for chest discomfort, breathlessness, an abnormal test result, or to establish a baseline given a family history of heart disease.
If your GP has identified a specific concern, such as suspected heart failure, high blood pressure, or a particular symptom, you may be referred more directly to one of our specific specialty services. General cardiology is for when a broader assessment is the right starting point.

Your cardiologist will take a detailed history, perform a clinical examination, and review any test results or referral information from your GP. Based on this assessment, further testing such as an ECG or echocardiogram may be arranged on site, and a management plan will be discussed with you directly.
If your assessment identifies a specific condition requiring ongoing management, such as heart failure, hypertension or ischaemic heart disease, your cardiologist will explain this clearly and outline the next steps, which may include referral to one of our more specific specialty services for ongoing care.
General cardiology suits patients being seen for the first time, as well as those who need a broad cardiovascular review rather than assessment of one specific, already identified condition.
