Cardiac CT is an integral part of our day to day cardiac services and is especially valuable in the assessment of chest pain. The scan itself is performed at an off site imaging facility. Your results are then reviewed in detail by our cardiologist and discussed with you at BK Heart in a dedicated consultation.

Because the scan itself takes place at an external imaging facility, specific preparation instructions will be provided when your appointment is booked. In general, patients having a cardiac CT may be asked to avoid caffeine for a period before the scan, as caffeine can raise your heart rate and affect image quality. You may also be given a medication to help lower your heart rate immediately before the scan, to help produce the clearest possible images.
Once your scan has been assessed, we take the time to explain what the findings mean, answer your questions, and ensure you feel informed and supported throughout the process. Your care is then tailored to your individual needs, risk factors and symptoms. Management decisions are guided by your results and may include adjustments to your medications, additional functional testing where appropriate, or referral for interventional procedures if required.
